Savor Freshness, Savor the Taste of Taiwan. Entering its 5th year in Taiwan, the Michelin Guide has been spotlighting the island’s culinary scene. Since 2020, it has included Taichung in its evaluation, and in 2022, it ventured into southern Taiwan for the first time, awarding stars to restaurants in Tainan and Kaohsiung. This expansion has resulted in the publication of the “Taipei, Taichung, Tainan & Kaohsiung Michelin Guide.” Beyond Michelin stars, Bib Gourmand, and Plate distinctions, the Michelin Guide introduced three awards in the UK and Ireland Guide in 2017: the Young Chef Award, the Service Award, and the Sommelier Award. These awards aim to recognize the dedication of culinary and service staffs who have invested their passion and professional knowledge to enhance dining experiences. Additionally, starting in 2020, the guide introduced the “Green Star,” which recognises sustainability-focused restaurants and it has gradually became a part of the 2021global edition.
