KL Cocktail Week continues to showcase more than great cocktails. It brings together chefs and bartenders from across Asia to create dining experiences that celebrate collaboration, creativity and regional flavours.

ROOST × Carrots Bar

One of the highlights was ROOST × Carrots Bar, where Kuala Lumpur met Jakarta through a produce-driven menu paired with Hennessy-based cocktails. The meal began with lighter, ingredient-focused dishes, including hamachi with Cameron Highlands strawberries, before moving into heartier courses such as fried chicken and corn ribs. Carrots Bar’s cocktails complemented the menu with a balance of harmony and contrast, creating a pairing that felt effortless and well-paced.

BAKAR × Little Bao × Reka Bar

In contrast, BAKAR × Little Bao × Reka Bar delivered a bolder, more expressive experience. Southeast Asian flavours met Hong Kong-inspired comfort food, opening with a layered oyster course before moving into highlights such as the IKAN trio, crispy fried chicken bao and the inventive “beef noodle” fries, which captured the “wok-hei” smoky flavours of dry-fried beef hor fun. Reka Bar’s cocktails didn’t simply match the food - they challenged and elevated it, proving that great pairings can thrive on contrast as much as harmony.

While the two dinners took different approaches, both reflected the spirit of KL Cocktail Week: bringing together distinct culinary voices to create experiences that are greater than the sum of their parts. Whether through subtle refinement or bold creativity, each collaboration demonstrated how food and cocktails can tell a richer story when cities - and ideas - meet at the same table.
