IPPUDO | MAiSEN Malaysia Combined Concept Debuts in Bangsar

21 April 2026

The IPPUDO | MAiSEN combined concept arrives in Bangsar Shopping Centre following the successful opening at The Gardens Mall in 2025. Joining these two legendary brands is Malaysia’s very first Japanese Highball Bar featuring House of Suntory.

This latest opening brings together IPPUDO’s signature ramen, introduces MAiSEN’s masterfully prepared tonkatsu and adds an extensive range of Suntory highballs and cocktails to create an authentic Japanese dining experience that is truly unique.

The popular IPPUDO ramen restaurant at this same location since 2014 has been totally renovated and expanded to offer an even greater range of Japanese cuisine. To complement this wider menu is an array of signature Suntory drinks designed to promote its highball culture.

The foundation of the menu is of course IPPUDO’s signature Hakata-style Shiromaru and Akamaru ramen, the original creations of the legendary Ramen King Shigemi Kawahara. In addition, new innovations such as Kurobuta Ramen (Enriched tonkotsu broth featuring layered Kurobuta pork, finished with refined flavours and a shoyu-zuke pasteurised egg) and Classic Veggie Ramen (An aromatic mushroom broth enhanced with truffle oil, seasonal vegetables, and fried tofu, accompanied by mini tomato rice) are highlights to be discovered.

Aficionados of tonkatsu in the Bangsar area will be delighted with Japan’s famous MAiSEN now available here. The signature dishes for which fans queue up in the flagship restaurant in Tokyo’s Aoyama district include Tenderloin Katsu (MAiSEN’s premium tenderloin, fried to golden perfection with signature panko breadcrumbs and traditional sauces) and ever popular Tenderloin Katsumabushi (An artisanal presentation of bite-sized tenderloin katsu over rice, served with rich dashi broth and onsen tamago). Naturally, its best selling Sando range so commonly seen in Japan will be available for takeaway as the perfect snack.

Every dish reflects the deep-seated discipline and craftsmanship that defines each brand, now complemented by a dedicated bar where the House of Suntory’s legacy is showcased through a repertoire of expertly crafted highballs. From the timeless Classic Kakubin Highball to the refined Hibiki Premium Highball, Yamazaki Premium Highball, Hakushu Premium Highball and, alongside the elegantly refreshing Roku Gin Highball. Each is meticulously crafted from precision-cut “ninja ice” to vibrant carbonation.

The available range at the House of Suntory will include their famous Hibiki blended whisky, along with their exceptional Hakushu and Yamazaki single malt whiskies. At more affordable price points will be Kakubin, Chita and soon to be launched brand (stay tuned for more information!). Fans of Japanese spirits should look out for special deals for full bottle purchases.

“To be working with not just one but three such recognizable Japanese brands is an amazing opportunity we have,” according to Mr. Donald Lim, Director of the IPPUDO and MAiSEN franchises in Malaysia. “On top of that, our association with Suntory dates back to 2010 when the official launch of their famed Yamazaki, Hakushu and Hibiki whiskies in Malaysia was held at the Kampachi Restaurant (also part of the Equatorial Group). Drawing attention to the highball culture via the House of Suntory is a natural progression that we are proud to be a part of. Adding the new Highball Bar to our combined IPPUDO and MAiSEN menus elevates this Japanese dining experience to a whole new level.”

The outlet will feature unique beverage experiences, including “Kanpai Night” from 8pm to 9pm every Thursday to Saturday, offering a buy-one-free-one promotion on selected drinks. Guests can also take part in an interactive “Ring the Bell” activity, where they can treat fellow diners to a round of shooters, adding a lively and communal touch to the dining experience.
