Tainan 400 Years of History-Join the 2024 Taiwan Lantern Festival

02 January 2024

The 2024 Taiwan Lantern Festival, jointly organized by the Tainan City Government and the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation, is set to illuminate Tainan from February to March! This marks the fourth time the Taiwan Lantern Festival returns to the ancient capital after a 16-year hiatus, coinciding with Tainan's 400th anniversary, making it a significant celebration.

The 2024 Taiwan Lantern Festival is divided into two main exhibition areas: "Anping Lantern Area" and "High-Speed Rail Lantern Area." Aligned with the winter vacation and the Lunar New Year period, the Anping Lantern Area will kick off from February 3 to March 10 (closed on New Year's Eve, February 9) at Lin Moniang Park, the original 1661 Taiwan Ship Garden, along the Anping Canal, and the Anping Recreation Pier, lasting for 36 days. The High-Speed Rail Lantern Area will be located near the Tainan High-Speed Rail Station at the Greater Tainan Exhibition Center and its surrounding areas, opening on the Lantern Festival day, from February 24 to March 10, for a total of 16 days.

During the event, there will be international performance teams, curated lantern art exhibitions, cultural displays, and large-scale illuminated areas fusing technology and art. Anticipate a refreshing and delightful experience. Next year, make plans to visit Tainan and witness the 2024 Taiwan Lantern Festival.
