Stepping out of Ginza’s polished avenues, you could be forgiven for thinking your Tokyo itinerary has no room for retreat - until you open the discrete doors of FUFU TOKYO GINZA. This new luxury resort reimagines traditional ryokan hospitality for the urban traveller, offering a rare fusion of modern luxury and deep tranquility just minutes from the city’s most prestigious streets.
From the moment you enter, the pace of Ginza dissolves. The lobby is minimal yet warm, a deliberate contrast to the vibrant theatre of Ginza’s fashion houses and flagship boutiques. Check-in feels personal, unhurried - a subtle cue that you’re arriving somewhere different from the typical city hotel.

The Room
With just 34 rooms in the building, each suite at FUFU TOKYO GINZA feels like a private sanctuary. I stayed in the Comfort Suite, a generous 64-65 sqm space featuring two SLEEPLEASURE double-size beds that were genuinely comfortable. The design is calm, with natural materials, muted tones, and soft lighting that encourages you to slow down and stay in.

The defining feature is the private onsen, framed in hinoki wood and unexpectedly spacious for a Tokyo city hotel. Filled with mineral-rich water drawn from FUFU’s private Atami Onsen (No. 47) and regularly refreshed, it allows you to experience one of Japan’s most cherished rituals in complete privacy. Small details reinforce that sense of ease: in-room amenities carry a subtle, property-specific FUFU scent, and minibar refills are handled through a discreet call button near the door - no phone calls required.
Facilities & Surroundings
Service at FUFU TOKYO GINZA is quietly confident. There is warmth in every interaction, but never awkward formality — a hallmark of thoughtful hospitality. Staff anticipate needs without being intrusive, creating a sense of ease that lets you feel genuinely cared for without ceremony.
Up on the rooftop, there’s a foot bath that also uses the Onsen water — a lovely way to stretch and unwind while gazing over Ginza’s rooftops. Nearby, the Yusora Lounge offers a relaxed way to end the evening with free-flow drinks — wine, cocktails, beer, sparkling wine — and light snacks as the sun dips behind the cityscape.

Dining
Dining at FUFU TOKYO GINZA is thoughtful and personal. Dinner is served at Japanese Restaurant GINZA GAYU on the 12th floor, where guests are offered a curated Kaiseki experience that can be adjusted with ease - in my case, beef was replaced with beautifully prepared seafood, including lobster, scallops, and Alaskan king crab. Breakfast is served in the same space the following morning, presented in refined boxes that feel restorative rather than indulgent. There is also SUSHI GINGA, a sushi restaurant on basement level 1, offering a quieter, more intimate way to enjoy seasonal fish away from Ginza’s crowds.

What Sets FUFU TOKYO GINZA Apart
What makes FUFU TOKYO GINZA exceptional is the way it delivers quiet luxury. It doesn’t compete with its lively surroundings; instead, it offers an alternative pace. Here, luxury lies in intentional stillness, privacy, and impeccable design – from the beds to the onsen bath to the call button that keeps your sanctuary uninterrupted. Whether you’re in Tokyo for business or leisure, this is a stay that feels like discovery itself.
If you’ve wandered through Tokyo’s vibrant districts and longed for pause without leaving the city, FUFU TOKYO GINZA delivers a rare balance: the soul of a ryokan with the convenience of a city resort. In Ginza’s constellation of luxury experiences, this one feels deeply personal, quietly unforgettable, and entirely rooted in thoughtful hospitality.
