Lobby

Just steps from the iconic Sensō-ji Temple and the bustling Nakamise-dōri shopping street, OMO3 Asakusa by Hoshino Resorts offers a boutique stay steeped in tradition. Opened in 2023, this 98-room hotel blends Edo-period charm with modern convenience, making it an ideal base for travellers seeking a deeper connection to Tokyo’s cultural roots.

First Impressions & Welcome

The location is unbeatable - directly across from Sensō-ji Temple and within walking distance to Asakusa’s top food and sightseeing spots. Asakusa Station is just five minutes away, making it easy to explore beyond the neighbourhood. Despite the rain on my arrival, the hotel’s warm hospitality shone through. I was scheduled for the “IKI” cultural walk, and the team seamlessly transitioned it into a virtual session that was both informative and engaging.

The Room

I stayed in a 33m² Deluxe Twin Room with an unobstructed view of Sensō-ji Temple - a stunning sight to wake up to. The room was spacious, and the beds were comfortable. I was also given a tour of the unique Yose Twin Room, a concept space inspired by traditional Japanese theatre, featuring red carpets and purple cushions reminiscent of Asakusa’s entertainment heritage.

Breakfast & OMO Base

The hotel’s 13th-floor OMO Base serves as a communal lounge and 24-hour OMO Food & Drink Station, offering local snacks and drinks throughout the day. In the morning, I found onigiri and inari rolls from Fukujuya, alongside pastries from a nearby bakery. Afternoon brought wagashi from Ryushotei Nishimura and cream coronets from Cake Shop Terasawa. In the evening, instant soba and noodles were available, perfect after a full day of exploring. The experience was seamless, digital, and thoughtfully curated. From this space, guests can also enjoy stunning views of Tokyo Skytree.

Activities & Cultural Workshops

OMO3 Asakusa offers a range of immersive activities. I joined two workshops during my stay. Ukiyo-e Coloring, where I played the role of a surishi (printer) and created a postcard using traditional stamping techniques. The second workshop involves offcuts leather crafting. I selected leather pieces to make coasters and keychains, stamped with the hotel’s original logo - a fun and creative way to take home a piece of Asakusa.

What Sets OMO3 Asakusa Apart

OMO3 Asakusa is more than a hotel - it is a cultural gateway. The early morning Asakusa Stroll was a highlight, offering a serene walk through temple grounds before the crowds arrived. Starting at the rooftop terrace at 5:55 AM, I witnessed the ringing of the historic time bell by a monk at Bentendo Hall - a quiet, moving moment that only few tourists get to experience. Combined with the Go-KINJO map and passionate OMO Rangers, the hotel connects guests to the soul of Asakusa.

For travellers seeking a stay that blends comfort with cultural depth, OMO3 Asakusa delivers an experience that’s both enriching and memorable. From its prime location and heritage-inspired design to its thoughtful amenities and immersive activities, this hotel invites you to slow down, explore, and truly feel the spirit of old Tokyo.
