First Impressions & Welcome
Located in the heart of Tokyo’s Gotanda district, OMO5 Tokyo Gotanda offers a refreshing take on city travel. I arrived early and stored my luggage using the hotel’s locker system, it was a seamless and efficient process. When I returned at 3PM, check-in was smooth and intuitive via iPad at the front desk, with friendly staff guiding me through each step. It was a modern, fuss-free welcome that set the tone for the stay.

The Room
OMO5 Tokyo Gotanda features 188 guest rooms, and I stayed in a Deluxe Room which is approximately 40m² and fitted with twin beds. The space was impressively generous, with large windows offering views of planes passing overhead, likely en route to Haneda Airport. The hotel follows a sustainable Japanese hospitality model, with amenities available at the lobby’s amenity bar and comfortable in-room pyjamas provided. All rooms feature tatami flooring, inviting guests to remove their shoes and settle in with a sense of calm and comfort.

Breakfast
Breakfast at OMO5 Tokyo Gotanda is a thoughtful experience. On one morning, I opted for the Western breakfast, which included an American-style main, salad, corn soup, yogurt, and a selection of drinks. The next day, I tried the signature onigiri breakfast, supervised by a five-star rice master. Guests choose two rice balls from ten topping options, paired with miso soup made using miso from Sakamoto Shoten, a local producer founded in Higashigotanda in 1923. It was a simple yet refined way to start the day.
Facilities & Surroundings
Gotanda turned out to be a hidden gem for food lovers. The hotel’s OMO Rangers and the Go-KINJO Map were incredibly helpful in navigating the area. I received excellent recommendations for tonkatsu and izakaya spots, and in the evening, joined the Gotanda Gourmet Reception, where the Rangers shared curated dining tips and local favourites.
One highlight was using the Gotanda Gourmet Express Pass, which gave me priority access to a curated menu at Toriguchi Yakitori, a popular local izakaya - no reservation needed. It was a delicious, hassle-free way to experience Tokyo’s vibrant food scene. In collaboration with the restaurant, guests who purchase the Pass gets to enjoy a specially curated menu which was delicious.
