Walking Trails for Everyone

Take a slow stroll along coastal walks with stunning views. Hike the full Great Ocean Walk or head south to Wilsons Promontory National Park for a gentler walking experience. Victoria’s views are worth the trip. With breathtaking scenery across a whole range of terrains, there are options for casual walkers and serious hikers alike.

Great Ocean Walk 
The Great Ocean Walk is a one-way, long-distance walk extending just over 110km. This once-in-a-lifetime hike will take you eight days. Alternatively, you can sample sections on a range of short, day, or multi-day hikes. Stretching from the seaside village of Apollo Bay west to the 12 Apostles, the Great Ocean Walk passes along a dramatic coastline of soaring cliffs and remote beaches, with tangents exploring giant eucalypt forests full of kangaroos, wallabies and koalas, and meandering estuaries brimming with birdlife.

Explore the Grampians region’s spectacular natural beauty on foot. Discover some of the most awe-inspiring wilderness in the state on a short gentle stroll or test your stamina with a hike through the Grand Canyon up to The Pinnacle or trek through heathy woodland to stunning views of Mount Abrupt. For something a bit less strenuous, wander out to spectacular Mackenzie Falls or revel in sweeping views of Victoria Valley from The Balconies, located just 30 minutes from Reed Lookout. For an unforgettable hiking experience, take the Grampians Peaks Trail on a three-day, two-night trek where rugged mountain peaks, rocky gullies and breathtaking panoramic views dominate this route.

Wilsons Promontory’s Great Prom Walk 
Fondly known as ‘The Prom’, Wilsons Promontory is one of Victoria’s best loved national parks. Situated at the southernmost tip of mainland Australia, you will find spectacular scenery of granite mountains, native forests, rainforest, sweeping beaches and coastlines. From sun-drenched summer beaches to secluded winter walks among rainforest, the Prom has something for everyone. The Great Prom Walk takes in the best of everything at Wilsons Promontory, stretching from 35.5 to 52.8km and between 3–4 days to complete, depending on your time and energy.
